/mk3/map/old/README 16 February 1994 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ This directory (/mk3/map/old) contains Mark-III coronal east & west limb synoptic data contour maps in POSTSCRIPT format. They contain scaled polarization values and are for viewing purposes only. NOTE: These are generated with an old calibration and will be recreated over the coming months. Check the /mk3/map/ps directory for the new versions. If you are unable to handle this format, or if you are interested in obtaining maps in binary format that contain the calibrated polarization brightness values, or if you have any questions/suggestions please contact: Alice Lecinski (303) 497-1523 email: mlso_data_requests@ncar.ucar.edu FILE DESCRIPTIONS: histxxxx.aei histxxxx.bei histxxxx.aem histxxxx.bem All hist* filenames contain four digits representing the number of the Carrington rotation. Each file contains half a rotation at one limb. Files ending in .aei containing the first half of the rotation at the east limb and .bei contains the second half of the east limb rotation. A file ending in .awi is the corresponding west limb map. The 'i' at the end of a file indicates a coronal height of 1.36 solar radii (inner corona) and the 'm' at the end of a file indicates a coronal height of 1.76 solar radii (middle corona). Files beginning with 'sh' are the same data mapped onto a sphere. Filenames have the format: shDOY-YR.ei where DOY is the day of year at the east limb, and YR is the year. All spherical maps are at a height of 1.36 solar radii (as indicated by the 'i' for inner corona). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
