README -- Describes contents of CHEM_INPUTS/CLOUD_J/v2024-09 1 September 2024 GEOS-Chem Support Team geos-chem-support@g.harvard.edu Overview: =============================================================================== This directory contains information for input into the Cloud-J photolysis mechanism. It cannot be used with Cloud-J versions prior to v8.0 and GEOS-Chem versions prior to 14.5.0. All files are a copy of files in CLOUD_J/2023-05/ with the following changes: 1) Addition to PPN entries in FJX_spec.dat and FJX_j2j.dat for PPN chemistry introduced in GEOS-Chem 14.5.0. 2) Removal of CJ77_inp.dat. Fields in this input file are now passed as arguments to Cloud-J and can be set in GEOS-Chem configuration file geoschem_config.yml starting in v14.5.0. 2) Removal of atmos_* files, as well as FJX-scat-geos.dat, FJX_scat-ssa.dat, and FJX_scat-UMa.dat. These files are not used for GEOS-Chem photolysis. They can still be found in the example tables provided within the Cloud-J repository at github.com/geoschem/cloud-j/ 3) Addition of H2O UV absorption cross-sections in FJX_spec.dat which is a new feature in Cloud-J v8.0. Files used in GEOS-Chem: =============================================================================== NOTE: all files are in ASCII format FJX_scat-cld.dat : Cloud scattering data FJX_scat-aer.dat : Aerosol scattering data FJX_scat-aer.dat : Strat sulfate aerosol cloud scattering data FJX_spec.dat : Spectral data FJX_j2j.dat : Photolysis reactions
