README -- Contents of HEMCO/TIMEZONES/v2024-02 05 Feb 2024 GEOS-Chem Support Team Files: ====== (1) timezones_vohra_2017_0.1x0.1.nc Contains offset from UTC in minutes. Used for HEMCO emissions. (2) scripts/make_timezones_coards-compliant Script containing several NCO commands to correct on-COARDS-conforming variables and attributes. This is needed for GCHP to read the file. References: =========== See Github issues: - https://github.com/geoschem/geos-chem/issues/1928. - https://github.com/geoschem/geos-chem/pull/2145 Karn Vohra (Github Handle @karnvoh) writes: The updated file...has higher resolution data for 12 months and so is much larger than the current file. I had also conducted a benchmark simulation for version 13 and the results are in the attached slides (in PR #2145). The recommendation is to use it over land mass as there was a small change in shipping NO emissions from the two timezone files (slide 5 of the attached). We also find that there is a small change in soil NO emissions at the grid cell level from the two timezone files (slide 6 of the attached) and it could be that the soil NOx inventory is using a timezone file rather than environmental time.
